Any suggestions on places for rent?
My boyfriend and I have an 11 month old Staffordshire and we are expecting a baby at the end of October. We are looking for a 2 or 3 bedroom house/apartment to accommodate our little family on a budget of $1000/month at maximum. I looooooove the Church Hill area and I’m determined to live there. We need to move by July 1st.
I’m not very picky. All I’m looking for is comfortable space for a bedroom, a man cave, and a nursery, although we can do without the man cave– a space big enough to accommodate a dog and a baby. We want to move somewhere that we can live for a long time, rather than move after one year. We are both 24 year-old full time employed social workers, responsible, tidy adults.
I’ve seen a handful of houses for rent in the 800 block of N. 26th Street on the odd-numbered side. They look really charming from the outside with some nice front porches. They might be worth checking for “for rent” signs.
Hey guys, contact Fran Brooks at Rent in Richmond. She’e great to work with and has several places available in the Church Hill area that may be to your liking. She can be reached at fran@rentinrichmond.com
Not sure if it’s still available, but here is a nice place across from Jefferson Park: http://richmond.craigslist.org/apa/2391547957.html
Nice part of the neighborhood and the landlord seems to know what he’s doing.
I would love to show you a place at 722 Jessamine St. Was just renovated 1 year ago 2 beds 1.5 bath 1,350 SF all new: mechanicals, kitchen, bath, storm windows with screens, heart pine floors throughout(refinished). Nice sized backyard with a 6ft privacy fence and off street parking. Please call me when you have a moment 804-306-9019 I can send you pictures on file and get with you this weekend. Thanks
Matt
There are apartments for rent on East Broad at 29th Street, there’s a large Thalhimer’s sign advertising them. Judging from the size of the building they could be two bedrooms. If you take a drive through the area you’ll see a ton of “for rent” signs. Good luck, we just moved here and love it too!
I have a home that is 3 bedroom 2.5 bath fully renovated with a detached 2 car garage “man cave” that will be up for rent soon. Drop me an email if you are interested. gdabulls@aol.com.
Guys,
Fran (from #1)has a place on Marshall that is available immediate;y..it’s a house with a backyard also. I think it’s 3 bedrooms but I could be wrong…Please contact her ASAP and she can show it to you probably today!
also, her phone number is 804.338.7101
There are a few places on the 500 block of North 24th. Very nice block – awesome neighbors, and you can smell the deliciousness when Alamo fires up their smokers every day!
I’ve got a two bedroom, 2 bath carriage house up for rent beginning July 9, for $700 in the Chimbo area. It may be a bit small in the case of this young family, but I wanted to put it out there for any other Church Hill’ers who may have interest (or know of others who would be).
Also for what it’s worth, I know Garrett who posted earlier and can vouch for the fact that he’s a stand up guy and would be the type of landlord you really hope for.
you can own a home for less than a $1000 a month payment, check out http://www.bhchomes.org.
#5 – Yes, the 29th & Broad buildings – called Cornish Broad – are two bedrooms + very large kitchen/dining area. I lived there and the property manager at Thalhimer, Heather Long, is great to work with. Check out the listing at http://www.postlets.com/rts/4972348
Buy this house! http://listings.realbird.com/B4D2A1F7/115599.aspx
It’s perfect for a young family with baby and dog, and the mortage payment would be less than $1,000.
I actually used to live in the place that #3 is talking about. We loved it but bought a home on 33rd this past April so moved out. Curt, the landlord is really great and the area is amazing. Wonderful neighbors and two doors down from Alamo. If it’s still available I recommend it!
There are a few rentals and a rent to own on Chimborazo
We have a two bedroom coming available $750 month-fabulous reno. You can call to discuss. 337.9501.
I have a 2 BR/ 2 bath house available on 29th Street/Clay Street. I have it listed for more, but would rent to you if you are interested in the place for your budget. It is PERFECT for a young family. My number is 938.2093.
Best,
Kathryn
@ Ian, #10- could you post contact info, or please email me at katzenjaammer@gmail.com? I may be interested in your carriage house.
