Volunteer for HandsOn Day
10/02/2011 9:05 AM by John M
Registration is now open for the 4th Annual HandsOn Day: “1 day. 1000 volunteers. Unlimited change. Saturday, October 29, 2011.”
Imagine how much better Richmond could be if we all spent just 4 hours doing something together for the community. Join thousands of other volunteers Saturday, October 29, 2011, to make a difference in Richmond on one of many organized volunteer opportunities across the region. Some of this year’s projects include Tricycle Gardens, Richmond City Public Schools, The Virginia Home, Boys & Girls Clubs, and HomeAgain.
There are at least 3 projects in the area:
- Beautify Chimborazo! at Chimbo ES: “Pick up glass and other litter from school yard, Water, weed and rake the traffic circles, Paint fence, Paint four square and hopscotch outlines on blacktop, May also have the opportunity to help with indoor classroom organization and decoration”
- Church Hill’s Secret Garden at Chimborazo Playground Community Garden: Spread mulch, Build a trellis, Clean and paint, Organize the shed
- Resurface and Refine at the Boys and Girls Club: Paint murals of the Boys & Girls Club logo and motivational quotes, etc., Resurface cabinets and counter in the kitchen, Install new cabinet hardware, Paint the computer lab
I am not sure the weather will be good for this… sorry to see it will bring a low turn out, if the forecast is correct.
