Last night I was walking in the 2900 block of E Broad and a cat came up to me. It was dark and in between street lights so all I can tell you is that the cat was dark colored and had a longish coat. Friendly and fairly vocal but a little skittish. The cat was on the sidewalk on the south side of E Broad in the middle of the block. Hope this helps!
Recently, I’ve noticed a “new” cat in our neighborhood that looks a lot like Libby. I’ve seen the cat in our back yard (3312 E. Broad) and on 33rd between E. Broad & Marshall. The cat is very skittish. I put food out after spotting cat in our back yard. I will keep eyes open. It would be helpful if you added a phone number to your posting. A few tips that might help: 1. Make sure you give a “missing” report to Richmond Animal Control. 2. Visit local veterinarian offices to place a “lost” report and check their “found” reports. Leave a flyer w/ photos at same clinics (e.g., C.H. Animal Hospital, Broad St. Vet Clinic, Cary St. Vet, Fan Vet.3.Post a missing report on Craig’s List and on Petfinders.org. Check same for “found” reports. 4.Visit Animal Control (1600 Chamberlayne Ave.) to check for your cats – calling is not enough.5.Put up signs w/ photo & offer a reward. 6.Go out at night and call to them within 3-4 block radius of your home.Bring a food container that you can shake. 7.Put flyers in neighbors mailboxes. Ask them to check sheds and outbuildings in case kitties are hiding somewhere. 8.Put food & water on your porch(es). Also, put out some item(s) that carry your home’s scent (kitties favorite blanket, toys, a sweater, etc.) Good luck and let us know when they return home!
Per my neighbor at 3212 E. Broad “I think the female was in my backyard last Wednesday. I was taking the trash out and there was a gray tabby who appeared not to be afraid of me as it sat there about 10 feet from me while I rolled two trash cans out; however, I did not try to approach it.”
Kitty in question was just in my neighbor’s back yard (3310 E. Broad). Went into alley behind house.
Saw Libby on 33rd and Marshall, hiding behind the fence located at the Condo construction project. I took a picture, would be glad to send it to you.
Thanks to everyone who has kept and eye out for them! They are both now home safe and sound!!!
Oh Linley! That’s great news. Our kitty friends sure do know how to put a scare in us!
