Victim identified in Ford Street killing

The Richmond Police Department has identified the victim in last night’s fatal shooting that occurred on Ford Avenue as James M. Williams, 37, of the 1900 block of Raven Street.

At approximately 6:54 p.m., officers were called to the 2200 block of Ford Avenue for a report of shots fired. Officers arrived and found a male on a sidewalk who was suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital where he died.

Detectives believe several individuals in the area may have witnessed the incident and can provide valuable information. This is the 6th killing in the East End in 2016 (and the 1st since March).
